Workshop #1

As I stated in my letter to the parents, I will be holding workshops throughout the year that will be beneficial to the parents, athletes, and coaches. The first one has been set, so save the date and I hope to see a lot of you there!

Topic: Concussion and hydration
Date: August 10, 2013
Time: 1:00 PM (will last no more than an hour)
Place: Thorton Center @ North Floyd

Thank you! :)

Summer Office Hours

This summer will be a bit crazy due to the number of tennis tournaments and sports camps being held. Because of this, I cannot guarantee I will always be in the office. However, because practices are being held in the morning, office hours will now be 12-2 pm Monday- Friday or by appointment. If there is  any question whether or not I'll be in, please give me a call on my cell! I may be right around the corner, where I'll either come meet you at the office or have you meet me.

Again, summer office hours are: 12-2 pm Monday - Friday or by appointment.

Thank you :)

Letter to the Parents

Dear Parents, Coaches, and Athletes:

I would like to take the time to introduce myself and explain what I can do for you and/or your child.  I am a certified athletic trainer who has been given the opportunity to work with athletes of all ages at Rome Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority (RFPRA).  I am a member of the Advance Redmond team who will provide sports medicine coverage for practices and games.

“Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers; health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities.”

Athletic trainers specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.
-National Athletic Trainers Association

In other words, I am here to help the athletes at the RFPRA stay healthy and in the event of an injury be there to get them the immediate care that they need.  If you/ your child has an injury you would like evaluated, please feel free to see me. There is no fee for this evaluation to any RFPRA athlete. My office is located at the RFPRA main office at 1 Shorter Avenue, Rome, GA 30165.  I will be in from 3-5PM, Monday-Friday or by appointment. (These hours are subject to change each season).

You and/or your child’s health and well-being is of my utmost priority. Advance Redmond stands by our mission, “to provide the highest quality rehabilitation services in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner while providing excellence in customer service to our clients. Our Core Values serve as a foundation for all of our efforts.”

Please keep a look out for future parent/coach workshops that I will provide. I will cover important topics relating to sports and injury such as concussion, hydration, nutrition, mental health, and child development to name a few.

I look forward to the years to come and hope to develop a long term relationship with you and your family while you participate in RFPRA activities in the future!

Sincerely,

 Nicole McDonald
